6KVA Diesel Generator Hire

6kVA diesel generator hire prices depend on how long you need the unit, whether you need delivery or collection, and whether fuel is included. Daily rates suit short events and emergency cover, while weekly and long-term rates work out cheaper per day for ongoing site use. Standby hire is also available. Call Hirelink or submit an enquiry for a current price on the MG 6000 SSK.

6kVA gives you around 5kW of usable continuous load. That’s enough for a fully kitted site cabin with lights, kettle, heater, and a few power tools. It handles a small outdoor event with sound and lighting, a market stall or food truck, or small business standby cover. It will struggle with heavy industrial loads, welders, or motor start-up currents from anything larger than a small compressor.

kVA (kilo-volt-amps) is the generator’s apparent power – the total capacity. kW (kilowatts) is the real usable power that runs your equipment. The two differ because of power factor, which for most generator loads sits at around 0.8. So a 6kVA generator gives you roughly 5kW of usable continuous output. When sizing a generator, work in kW and add margin for motor start-up loads on compressors and pumps.

Yes. The MHM Gen MG 6000 SSK is a silent diesel generator with an acoustic enclosure. That makes it suitable for residential construction sites, outdoor weddings, festivals, and any location where noise is restricted. It’s noticeably quieter than an open-frame generator of the same kVA. Exact noise level in dB depends on distance and load; confirm with the team if your site has a strict noise limit.

Standard configuration is dual voltage: 110V outputs (yellow plug industry standard for site power tools) and 240V outputs (domestic-style equipment, event kit, standard appliances). That means the same generator powers a site compound, an event PA, and standard mains-plug equipment without needing a transformer.

For delivery hires, the generator arrives with enough diesel to start work and run for the first stretch of the hire. For longer hires, we can arrange ongoing fuel resupply or you can refuel yourself. For collection hires, fuel is your responsibility once the unit leaves the depot. Talk to the team about fuel arrangements when you book.

Yes. Silent diesel generators in the 6kVA range are popular for outdoor weddings, small festivals, food and drink events, market stalls, exhibition stands, and any outdoor function where there’s no convenient mains supply. The MG 6000 SSK runs quietly enough to use near guests without dominating the soundscape.

Yes. Emergency and standby hire is available for businesses and sites that need backup power on short notice. If your mains has dropped and you need power fast, call 0121 355 2626 and we’ll let you know what’s available at your nearest depot. For planned standby cover (during planned mains outages or seasonal risk periods) we can book the unit in advance.

Modern silent diesel generators produce clean sine-wave power suitable for most electronic equipment including PA systems, laptops, and lighting rigs. For very sensitive equipment (medical devices, precision test equipment, some server hardware), you may want a UPS or isolation transformer between the generator and the load. Ask the team if you’re not sure.

No. Diesel generators must run outdoors or in a well-ventilated, dedicated generator enclosure. The exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is fatal in enclosed spaces. Position the generator outside any building, with the exhaust pointing away from doors, windows, and air intakes. The silent enclosure on the MG 6000 SSK reduces noise, not exhaust gas.

Hirelink is a Midlands-based hire company with four depots covering Birmingham and Staffordshire. National generator hire firms cover the whole country and run larger fleets, but they also work across longer delivery distances and through national call centres. For trade and event customers across the West Midlands, Hirelink offers local service and a more direct line for advice or problem-solving mid-hire.

For most hires we’ll need photo ID (driving licence or passport), proof of address dated within the last three months, and a deposit at the time of booking. Trade customers with an account just need to confirm the booking. For collection hires, bring a van rather than a car (the generator is heavier than domestic equipment). Some hire policies require plant hire insurance – the team will confirm at booking.
