10KVA Diesel Generator Hire

Diesel generator hire prices depend on how long you need the unit, whether you need delivery or collection, and whether fuel is included. Daily rates suit short events and emergency cover, while weekly and long-term rates work out cheaper per day for ongoing site use. Standby hire is also available. Call Hirelink or submit an enquiry for a current price on the MG 10000 SSK-5.

10kVA gives you around 8kW of usable continuous load. That’s enough for a fully kitted site cabin with lights, kettle, heater, and a few power tools, or a small outdoor event with sound and lighting. It will also cover a small business as standby power. For heavier industrial loads, large events, or anything running three-phase motors at full draw, you may need a larger generator. The team can advise.

Yes. The MHM Gen MG 10000 SSK-5 is a silent diesel generator with an acoustic enclosure. That makes it suitable for residential construction sites, outdoor weddings, festivals, and any location where noise is restricted. It’s noticeably quieter than an open-frame generator of the same kVA. Exact noise level in dB depends on distance and load.

For delivery hires, the generator arrives with enough diesel to start work and run for the first stretch of the hire. For longer hires, we can arrange ongoing fuel resupply or you can refuel yourself. For collection hires, fuel is your responsibility once the unit leaves the depot. Talk to the team about fuel arrangements when you book.

Yes. Silent diesel generators in the 10kVA range are a common hire for outdoor weddings, festivals, food and drink events, broadcast and filming locations, and any outdoor function where there’s no convenient mains supply. The MG 10000 SSK-5 runs quietly enough to use near guests and performers without dominating the soundscape.

Yes. Emergency and standby hire is available for businesses and sites that need backup power on short notice. If your mains has dropped and you need power fast, call 0121 355 2626 and we’ll let you know what’s available at your nearest depot. For planned standby cover (e.g. during a planned mains outage at your premises) we can book the unit in advance.

The MG 10000 SSK-5 is trailer mounted and road-legal, so yes, you can tow it to site if you have a vehicle rated for the trailer weight and a driving licence with the right category. The unit is heavier than a standard plant trailer, so check your towing capacity and your licence category before collecting. If in doubt, take delivery.

Yes. The 10kVA MG 10000 SSK-5 is one option in our generator range. We also hire 3kVA petrol generators for small jobs and 6kVA diesel generators for jobs that need a bit more grunt than petrol provides without going up to 10kVA. For larger jobs, talk to the team about availability of bigger units.

kVA is the apparent power the generator can produce. kW is the real, usable power. The difference is down to power factor, which for most generator loads sits at around 0.8. So a 10kVA generator gives you roughly 8kW of usable continuous output. When you’re sizing a generator, work in kW and add a margin for start-up loads on motors and compressors.

No. Diesel generators must run outdoors or in a well-ventilated, dedicated generator enclosure. The exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is fatal in enclosed spaces. Position the generator outside any building, with the exhaust pointing away from doors, windows, and air intakes. The silent enclosure on the MG 10000 SSK-5 reduces noise, not exhaust gas.

Hirelink is a Midlands-based hire company with four depots covering Birmingham and Staffordshire. For most hires we’ll need photo ID (driving licence or passport), proof of address dated within the last three months, and a deposit at the time of booking. If you’re hiring for emergency backup at a business premises, the team will run through site requirements with you before the unit goes out.
