Hoarding Panel Hire Sizes & Prices

A full hoarding run is more than just panels – you need feet to stand them up, couplers to join them together, and gates to get people and vehicles in and out. Hirelink hires each component separately so you can build the exact setup your site needs.

The Reason

Why Choose Hirelink for Hoarding Panel Hire in the Midlands?

Steel hoarding panels give you a solid barrier – no gaps, no visibility through the panel, no hand-holds for climbing. That matters when your site has valuable plant, material stockpiles, or public safety exposure. Mesh temporary fencing (Heras) is fine for lower-risk boundaries; solid hoarding is what you use when the perimeter is doing serious security work.

The panels are pre-galvanised steel, which handles UK weather without rusting through even on 18-month build programmes. That’s a real cost advantage on long hires: no repainting, no panel replacement, no ugly rust running down the panels after six months exposed to rain.

Hire the whole system: panels, feet (concrete or thermoplastic), couplers to join panels together, backstays for windy sites, and pedestrian or vehicle gates for site access. One phone call, one delivery, one bill. Rather than chasing separate suppliers for each component.

Hirelink operates from four depots: Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Aldridge, and near Birmingham Airport. For any larger site perimeter (say 40+ panels), we’ll deliver on a dedicated wagon and can lay out the panels around your boundary if you tell us where they go. Areas served include Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, Solihull, and the wider West Midlands.

Most hoarding stays up for the duration of a build. Ask about long-term hire rates for anything beyond three months. For construction programmes of a year or more, hire remains cheaper than buying once you factor in end-of-project disposal or reinstallation elsewhere.

The panel-and-coupler system is modular. As your site evolves – internal phases finished, plant compound relocated, new construction traffic routes – the hoarding can be repositioned by two people without cutting or welding. Reduces the need to hire replacement fencing when the site layout changes.

The Return

Steel Hoarding Panel Hire - What You Get

Steel hoarding panels create a solid, secure perimeter around any construction site, development, event, or restricted area. They replace the older approach of plywood-and-timber hoardings that used to get built on site: pre-fabricated, quicker to install, and modular so you can reconfigure as the site evolves. For any project with a public boundary, valuable plant on site, or CDM compliance requirements, solid steel hoarding is now the standard.

Our hoarding panels measure approximately 2m high by 2.1m wide, weigh around 30kg each, and are constructed from pre-galvanised steel sheet. The 2m height meets standard site security requirements and CDM public protection guidance. The pre-galvanised finish resists rust without painting, which matters for hire periods running to a year or more. Panels join together with couplers and stand on either concrete block feet (for hard ground) or thermoplastic feet (for soft ground).

Common uses include construction site perimeter hoarding for domestic and commercial builds, developer hoarding around new-build housing sites, screening around demolition works, temporary boundaries during infrastructure and civil engineering projects, security barriers around plant compounds and material stockpiles, event and film location boundaries where solid screening matters, and CDM public protection where the boundary sits close to pedestrian footpaths or roads. For anything requiring high-security specification (prison-standard, MOD sites), specialist hoarding is needed beyond our standard range.

Hiring is far cheaper than buying for anyone who doesn’t run permanent site infrastructure. A new steel hoarding panel plus foot and couplers costs several hundred pounds, and a typical small site perimeter needs 30-50 panels. For a project lasting 6-24 months, hire keeps the capital cost off the books and removes the end-of-project disposal issue. You also get panels that arrive inspected and clean, which second-hand purchased panels rarely are.

The Difference

Steel Hoarding, Heras Fencing, or Timber Hoarding - Which Do You Need?

Solid Steel Hoarding

Solid panels, no visibility through, no climbing hand-holds. Right choice for CDM public protection where the boundary sits by a footpath, valuable plant sites, high-visibility developer projects that want a clean brand-able perimeter. More expensive to hire but meets security requirements Heras can’t.

Heras Temporary Mesh Fencing

Wire mesh panels, quick to install, cheap to hire. Right choice for lower-risk site boundaries, temporary event fencing, and interior site subdivision. Provides visual boundary but not real security – climbable, cut-able, and see-through. Hirelink also hires Heras temporary fencing.

Steel Hoarding (Hire)

Pre-fabricated, modular, quick to install, reusable across projects. No skip fees at the end, no waste timber, no painting. Standard finish looks professional for developer sites. Panels can be branded with company graphics if needed.

Timber Hoarding (Build On Site)

Built on site from timber studwork and OSB or plywood. Requires site labour to build and dismantle, plus skip fees for the timber waste. Can be painted for high-brand-value developer projects but the cost typically works out higher than hired steel over any hire of two months or more. Rarely the sensible commercial choice these days.

The Logistics

Hoarding Panel Hire Delivery Across the Midlands

Hirelink delivers hoarding panels from four Midlands depots located in Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Aldridge, and near Birmingham Airport. Together, these depots cover the full West Midlands region and large parts of Staffordshire.

For small quantities (say up to 10 panels), delivery on a standard vehicle is fine. For larger site setups running to 30+ panels, we’ll deliver on a dedicated wagon and can distribute panels along your boundary at drop-off. Areas served include Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, West Bromwich, Solihull, Tamworth, Burton upon Trent, Cannock, Stafford, and the surrounding towns and villages.

The Process

How to Hire Hoarding Panels from Hirelink

Measure Your Perimeter

Work out the perimeter length in metres, divide by 2.1m per panel, and add a bit for gates. Tell the team how many personnel gates and vehicle gates you need. If the ground is soft or exposed to wind, mention it – you’ll need thermoplastic feet with pins or block trays, plus backstays for wind resistance.

Confirm Booking and Delivery

We’ll quote for panels, feet, couplers, gates, and backstays as a complete set. For large developer projects, ask about long-term hire discounts. Confirm the delivery date and access for the wagon.

Install, Secure, Return

Two people can install a run of hoarding without lifting equipment. Stand each panel on its feet, connect to the next panel with couplers, and add backstays where needed. Gates fit in place of a standard panel with hinges attached to the adjoining panels. Return everything on your agreed collection date.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions About Hoarding Panel Hire

Hoarding hire prices depend on the number of panels, whether you need gates, and how long you need the setup for. Most hoarding hire is long-term (weeks to years) rather than daily, so weekly rates and long-term project rates are the standard. Bulk discounts apply for larger site setups. Call Hirelink or submit an enquiry with your perimeter length and hire duration for a full quote.

Divide your perimeter length in metres by 2.1m (the length of each panel) to get the number of panels needed for the run. Add gates (pedestrian gates take one panel-width position, vehicle gates take approximately 4.3m of run). Round up to allow for site-boundary irregularities. As a rough example, a 60m perimeter with one pedestrian and one vehicle gate needs about 26 panels plus the gates.

Yes. The panels don’t stand up on their own – each panel needs a foot (concrete block or thermoplastic base) and each join between panels needs couplers (steel clips, usually two per join for stability). We hire feet and couplers separately alongside the panels. Tell us how many panels you need and we’ll work out the correct feet and coupler quantities.

Concrete block feet are heavier, more stable, and suit hard-standing installations on tarmac or concrete. Thermoplastic feet are lighter and easier to handle, often used with ground pins for soft ground (grass, mud, temporary access) where you need the panels pinned down for stability. If your site has mixed ground, tell us and we’ll supply appropriately.

For most standard installations on sheltered sites, no. For exposed sites, coastal locations, or any hoarding run of more than about 20m without corners, backstays are strongly recommended to prevent wind uplift. Wind loading on solid hoarding panels is real – a 100m run of steel hoarding in a stiff breeze catches serious force. Ask the team when you book if you’re not sure.

Yes. We hire pedestrian gates (approximately 1.2m wide, for personnel access) and vehicle gates (approximately 4.3m wide, for plant and delivery access) as part of the same panel system. Both fit inline with the standard panels and share the coupler system. Tell us how many gates and where they need to go when you book.

Steel hoarding is a solid panel that provides real security and screening – you can’t see through it, you can’t climb it, and you can’t easily cut through it. Heras temporary fencing is wire mesh – useful for defining a boundary but not for security or screening. Steel hoarding is used when public protection, site security, or visual screening actually matters. Heras is fine for lower-risk boundaries and internal site subdivision.

Yes. Steel hoarding panels are commonly branded with developer graphics, site signage, and company logos. Talk to us about your requirements and we can advise on printed vinyl wraps that fit the panel system. For long-hire developer projects, branded hoarding is a real marketing asset – passers-by see the developer name for the duration of the build.

As long as your project needs. Weekly rates for shorter jobs (event site setups, short renovations), monthly rates for phase-based construction, and long-term project rates for developer builds running to 12-24 months. There’s no upper limit on hire duration.

Two competent site workers can install a hoarding run without specialist equipment or lifting gear. Panels weigh about 30kg each – a two-person lift. If you’d prefer us to install the hoarding, ask the team for a supply-and-install quote.

Hirelink is a Midlands-based hire company with four depots covering Birmingham and Staffordshire. National hire chains and specialist hoarding companies both operate across the UK, but for local Midlands projects Hirelink offers faster delivery, direct account contact, and the ability to combine hoarding with other site equipment (fencing, welfare, plant) on one hire agreement.

For trade customers with a Hirelink account, just confirm the booking with your site details. For new customers, we’ll need photo ID, proof of address, and details of the project. For larger developer projects and long-term hire, we’ll typically set up a project account with monthly invoicing rather than transactional hire.
